Wakefield based Grass Concrete are once again the main sponsors of one of the biggest events in British cycling, the Ryedale Grand Prix, hosted at Ampleforth Abbey on Sunday 6th August, part of the British Cycling | HSBC UK Grand Prix Road Series.
Grass Concrete has been sponsoring the Ryedale since its inception in 2005 and has seen the event grow to a showcase sporting event for Yorkshire. The event and location has proved so popular that it’s been award the privilege of doubling as the National Road Race Championships on three occasions, in 2005, 2008 and 2012.
Incorporating both a men’s and women’s event, the 58-mile Women’s National Road Series kicks-off first at 9.30am. As part of “a continuing commitment to developing women’s racing”, the organisers say that there will once again be equal prize money for the Women’s and Men’s Grand Prix, which itself takes to the rolling roads around Ampleforth at 2.00pm, this time for a battle over 94 miles.
The event is once again promoted by British Cycling’s Yorkshire Region, with British Cycling’s President Bob Howden OBE organising the races. Grass Concrete Limited, will promote their Worldwide brand Grasscrete in the sponsorship and are once again joined by Ryedale District Council who continue to support the event that bears their name
